1. Information Regarding the Arts and Economic Stimulus

The National Endowment for the Arts has compiled information about the ways that the arts can help in economic recovery. The NEA’s statement, released today, follows:

There has been much public conversation recently regarding the role of the arts and culture industry in economic stimulus. Following is information that seeks to clarify this issue through two key points: that the arts and culture industry is a sector of the economy just like any other with workers who pay taxes, mortgages, rent and contribute in other ways to the economy; and that the National Endowment for the Arts is uniquely positioned to assist in job stimulation for that industry.

3. A Roundtable on Cultural and Heritage Tourism

New Hampshire’s Department of Cultural Resources Commissioner Van McLeod is hosting a roundtable on cultural and heritage tourism. The event will be held at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, from noon to 2 p.m.

The topic is “Using Community Partnerships and Collaborations to Prosper in a Challenging Economic Climate.” Cultural and heritage tourism professions will be on hand for the discussion. There is no charge to attend, and participants are invited to bring their own lunch/refreshments.
